"I grew up in a family that was heavily involved in the trades, I had an 'in'. My grandfather was a general contractor, my father as well. I don't know where I'd be if it weren't for them. I started Support the Youth Inc. to allow me to be that guidance for those that don't have ties to the trades. With 41% of our industry retiring by 2031, the push for the trades is needed now more than ever." - Matt Panella, founder of Support the Youth Inc.
Our goal is to bring pride back to the trades. In the '90s, it was 'cool' to be a rough framer. In 2020, it's looked at by society as a career for those that had no other option. We're constantly working to break that stigma, as a career paying $70-80K a year without a college education is by no means a poor choice.
With the help of our sponsors, we're able to show the youth why it's 'cool' to build. If you're interested in helping out on our journey, feel free to reach out HERE.
Schools all around the nation are underfunded and pushed aside when it comes to construction classes. With the help of our awesome sponsors, we're able to donate tools, material funding and our time to work with the youth 1-on-1.
Do you teach a construction class? Reach out to us and let's work together, we're always looking for new classes to work with.
Matt started sharing the 'trade secrets' of the rough framing industry in 2018, by showing day-to-day progress updates of their home builds. Our How-To videos are used nationwide in high-school and college level carpentry classes.
With over 13,000,000 views on YouTube and 135,000+ following along, we've built a platform that allows students to learn the trades on a social media outlet.
